Non-weight related health goals for the new month

Written by: Angelica Guadalupe, Intern

Wow! It’s already reaching October and the months seem to be flying by. Something that’s really been helping me stay focused and productive is setting intentions before the beginning of each month.

For people who are struggling with their relationship with food and their body, an intention list that’s not focused on weight loss, diets, and extreme exercise is just another way of improving your relationship with yourself.

Here are some intentions that may be helpful for you

(If you’re reading this after October, no worries - you can set goals anytime!)

  • Add more color to my plate

  • Go on more fun walks

  • Try a new workout

  • Tell yourself affirmations more often

  • Set some boundaries if needed

  • Have 3 fulfilling meals a day

  • Treat myself to coffee, hair, nails, etc.

  • Buy an interesting new food

  • Talk about your feelings more

  • Drink more water

  • Ask someone to watch the kids for a night out

  • Make appointments you’ve been holding off

The list can truly go on and on - feel free to add more or take any out that doesn't resonate with you! Remember, intentions are not a checklist! You do not have to do every single one. The point of this is to set yourself up for a positive month. You may complete these goals over the span of 1 month, 3 months, or a year - ALL is great!
