Halloween Affirmations

Written by: Angelica Guadalupe, Intern

Are you wearing a costume this Halloween? I know times are different, and Covid is still around, but that doesn’t mean you can’t throw on a costume and sit in your house with a couple friends! All jokes aside, you do not have to wear a costume if you don’t feel the need. But if you want to...what’s stopping you? Are you scared to buy that costume because you think you may look bad in it? Do you think you’re too old? Are you too focused on your kid’s costumes?

If you answered yes to any of those questions… I just want to remind you, that if you want to dress up, go for it. Take a little time for yourself, buy a costume, or make a DIY outfit! This can be really fun to do with your kids, and it will definitely make them smile! Throw on some cat ears or put zombie makeup on your face if you want! You don’t have to sit back and let your kids be the only ones to have fun. You still deserve to enjoy your holidays just as much as your children!

Feeling confident around the holidays is always a struggle, I get it. But you don’t have to continue letting your bad body image and negative self-talk boss you around! Around each holiday, I like to repeat several affirmations to myself each day. The repetition of these specific affirmations allows me to change my mindset and language.

Here’s some examples of my Halloween affirmations:

●      I am comfortable in any costume

●      It is normal for by body to change each year

●      I deserve to eat as much candy as I want

●      I allow myself to have fun with my family

●      I am beautiful

●      I am learning to not compare myself to others

Your confidence boost after each affirmation session will feel unreal, like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders. You don’t need to punish yourself and speak negatively about yourself anymore. Change can start now. What I love about affirmations, is how they are so personal. You can make your own to go with your own individual feelings. Start with repeating my Halloween affirmations each day, and you will notice a change in the way you think about yourself!
