Vacation Mindset

Written by: Angelica Guadalupe, Intern

As covid is becoming a little less overwhelming, and it’s getting safer to travel, many of you may be going on vacations this summer! (How fun, right?)

BUT, for some of you this vacation may be giving you a lot of anxiety….

  • Being in a bathing suit in front everyone

  • So many food options

  • Comparing yourself to others

  • Going off your normal routine

  • Feeling like you’re being judged

  • Family photos (photos in general!)

There are so many things that may be holding you back during a vacation, but know that these thoughts are more common than not.

Being able to go on vacation is such a blessing, and you want to have a good time, but know your insecurities may get in the way of things. Trust me, I get it!

What can you do right now to prepare for your vacay?!

  • Buy new bathing suits that you love & are comfortable in! (& a few summer clothes too!)

  • Pack snacks like granola bars or go to a convenient store near your stay!

  • Remember to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so you don’t get hungry, cranky, and/or sick.

  • I know photos can be scary, but start taking more pictures in general! I promise, you will want to look back at them

  • Know your kids, partner, or friends are not going on vacation with you because of your body! They want to spend time with you!!

  • Talk to someone about how you’re feeling..anxiety around food & your body is real!

Remember, vacation is supposed to be a time where you can relax, unwind, and get away from whatever is stressing you. That’s not easy, but it’s possible. Once you start to understand that your family loves you for MORE than your body, you will start to focus LESS on your body!
