INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Written by: Angelica Guadalupe, Intern

Last week was International Women’s Day, and I thought this would be a great topic to cover. As a woman myself I thought, “What does International Women’s Day mean to me?”

This specific day can have so many different meanings to women all over the world. To me, this day is about remembering the significant women around me. As I think of my loved ones, I make sure to reflect on why they’re significant in my life.

They’re significant in my life because they lift me up, and I do the same for them. But when I think of International Women’s Day, I also think about how society has put women down for centuries. The good news is, I think more and more women are starting to lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.

We have to continue to support other women now more than ever. It is crucial to make sure our voices are heard, and we continue to empower others to use their voices as well.

What you can do to support women right now:

-       Donate to any charity that supports women’s rights!

-       Call/text your loved ones and tell them how much they mean to you.

-       Accept other women for whatever size, shape, religion, or ethnicity they are!

-       Encourage businesses to become more size inclusive (even if your size is always in store!)

-       Stand up for & believe other women!

-       Celebrate & promote women-run small business owners!

-       & of course, celebrate yourself everyday.

You’re a hardworking, kind, and loving woman!
